Slaughter Your Own

Most consumers are used to buying a package of chicken thighs or pork chops, but because of government bureaucracy and simple logistics that is the most labor intensive and costly way for us to market our products. Our favorite type of customer is the one who’s willing to make a few concessions in order to support small farms, and we like to reward them with a significant price break.

We offer Slaughter Your Own (SYO) events a few times a year here on the farm. These events take place over a long weekend, starting around 3 PM on a Friday and ending about the same time on Sunday. We invite people to come to the farm and participate in the slaughter, evisceration and butchering process, selling the pigs in ¼ pig increments. This process isn’t for the faint of heart, but we feel it’s the best way to really understand where your meat comes from, and to consume as sustainably as possible by utilizing the whole animal.
